Activities and Initiatives of the Advisory Forum for Local Council Members - Takamul
The Advisory Forum for Local Council Members, "Takamul," actively promotes women's roles in political and social spheres through a variety of events and initiatives. This includes participation in community projects such as the Your Role Project, implemented by the Cooperation Foundation for Conflict Resolution. The project aims to support community accountability and civic engagement, as well as partnerships with local and international institutions, like Augusta Victoria Hospital, in awareness campaigns on breast cancer prevention. The forum’s members and volunteers also organize environmental initiatives, such as the "Contribute to a Sustainable Healthy Environment" campaign, which included tree-planting activities. Additionally, it held workshops focused on civic engagement, like the session on "Citizenship and Community Participation," which highlighted the successes and challenges faced by women in local councils. In support of freedom of expression and women's rights, the forum held a workshop titled "Freedoms in Palestine and Between International Covenants and Local Laws," in cooperation with the Palestinian Center for Peace and Democracy. This event gathered local council members and women's rights activists. Furthermore, the forum celebrated International Women’s Day by honoring inspiring women in the local community, in collaboration with the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This event recognized the achievements of female local council members and highlighted their impactful roles. Through these diverse activities, the forum is committed to empowering women at political, social, and environmental levels, reinforcing its dedication to promoting women’s active and sustainable presence in Palestinian society.
